Cupid’s arrow shooting across Grande Prairie’s sky on Valentine’s Day?!?! ò.ó

Contrary to the forecast, aurora suddenly appeared unexpectedly just before midnight on Valentine’s Day. :D Aurora displayed directly overhead, from horizon to horizon. It last for at least 5 hours, starting at 9pm!!!! A perfect valentine’s gift for me. ♥

Alberta Northern Lights in Spirit River County

A coronal mass ejection (CME) hit Earth’s magnetic field on January 22, 2012 (Chinese New Year’s Eve), resulting in glowing auroras dancing over the County of Spirit River.

The following photos were taken nearby the village Rycroft, located 7 km east of Spirit River and 68 km north of the city of Grande Prairie.

January 22, 2012: Northern Lights display on Chinese New Year's Eve around 8pm at Herman Flad World Champion Chuckwagon Driver Memorial Site. The green aurora made the atmosphere kinda spooky?!?! ò.ó Anyway, Happy Chinese New Year! :D
