Kevin Skinner America's Got Talent

September 14 Final Performace on AGT: see below!!!

He sang Aerosmith “I Don’t Wanna Miss A Thing” in his final. He also revealed he is married and have a son and a daughter!!! He sang that song when he met his wife. :D

I don’t feel as much emotion this time as last time. He can’t sing high notes—very unfortunate…. Could Kevin Skinner be just another Susan Boyle??? Failed in semi-final??? :nahni:  See below for his second performance, this time in Hollywood! This time he sings “To Make You Feel My Love” by Bob Dylan. You can download Kev’s song below. :D

Singing chicken farmer selected as ‘America’s Got Talent’ champion

LOS ANGELES – Kevin Skinner flew the coop with the grand prize on “America’s Got Talent.”

The singing chicken farmer from Mayfield, Kentucky, was awarded the NBC talent competition’s $1 million grand prize and a headlining spot at a Las Vegas show. Skinner received the most viewer votes on Wednesday’s season finale, overcoming runner-up Barbara Padilla, an opera singer from Houston, and eight other finalists.

Before Skinner was announced the winner, Susan Boyle made her U.S. TV singing debut with a rendition of the Rolling Stones ballad “Wild Horses.” The dowdy Scottish sensation surprised viewers of “Britain’s Got Talent” earlier this year with her soaring rendition of “I Dreamed a Dream.”

Song: Susan Boyle – Wild Horses

Kevin Skinner aged 35 unemployed farmer sang Garth Brooks’ country music “If Tomorrow Never Come” in America’s Got Talent. His performance has made an emotional, powerful impression on the judges. Judge David said: “When you sing, there’s no reason to move your lips unless you tell a story. Everybody is moving because he’s singing and telling you story, and you can tell it’s coming from his heart and it touches everybody. That’s what entertainment is about.”

Personally, I think Kevin sings this song better than Garth, along with his awesome guitar style. :) Garth seems to sing too fast.

Garth Brooks Performance

Lyrics: If Tomorrow Never Comes

Sometimes late at night
I lie awake and watch her sleeping
Shes lost in peaceful dreams
So I turn out the lights and lay there in the dark
And the thought crosses my mind
If I never wake up in the morning
Would she ever doubt the way I feel
About her in my heart

(chorus)

If tomorrow never comes
Will she know how much I loved her
Did I try in every way to show her every day
That shes my only one
And if my time on earth were through
And she must face the world without me
Is the love I gave her in the past
Gonna be enough to last
If tomorrow never comes
cause Ive lost loved ones in my life
Who never knew how much I loved them
Now I live with the regret
That my true feelings for them never were revealed
So I made a promise to myself
To say each day how much she means to me
And avoid that circumstance
Where theres no second chance to tell her how I feel

*chorus*

So tell that someone that you love
Just what youre thinking of
If tomorrow never comes

Biography: Kevin Skinner

Kevin Skinner is a native of Mayfield, Kentucky. He graduated from Graves County High School. Skinner has three siblings; Rodney Michael & Jennifer. They all share a passion for music. Kevin, Jennifer and Rodney played in a band called Skinner and Friends. Their gigs would be at places such as Wrangler’s Campground in the Land Between the Lakes and Hill’s Bar-B-Que near the Kevil Korner.

Jul. 12–MAYFIELD, Ky. — It’s the phone calls that most surprise Joe and Jacklin Skinner, parents of “America’s Got Talent” contestant Kevin Skinner.

“The calls have come in from everywhere,” Jacklin said by phone last week.

“Louisiana, Texas. Everywhere. They just all say that he (Kevin) touched them.”

Kevin, a 35-year-old Mayfield native, became easily the town’s most famous chicken catcher weeks ago when he sang country star Garth Brooks’ “If Tomorrow Never Comes” on the nationally televised talent competition.

“It’s all been positive,” Jacklin said of the flood of calls over the past couple of weeks.

“And I’m very happy that everybody has been interested in him and so supportive.”

NBC prohibits show contestants from giving media interviews until the contest for $1 million is over.

Plenty are talking about him, though, after his genuine Southern drawl, former chicken work and singing prowess was broadcast to the nation.

And anyone who ever thought Skinner’s personality, and chicken catcher job, portrayed on the show was a put-on need only travel to his hometown.

Musical family

Mayfield is where you find his three siblings, and parents, all as laid back and musically versed as Kevin.

His sister, Jennifer Skinner, remembers sitting in the family’s living room as a kid, with all three of her brothers, listening to their dad sing and play Hank Williams Sr. songs on guitar.

“He (Joe) got us doing all of that,” Jennifer said inside the Kevil Korner thrift store where she works. The store’s sign out front reads, “Good luck and best wishes to the chicken catcher.”

She said all the Skinner children are musical, including brothers Rodney and Michael.

Jennifer said she and Kevin, a Graves County High School graduate, would travel some weekend nights to play any open mics that would have them in Nashville, Tenn.

Kevin, Jennifer and Rodney played in a band with friends called Skinner and Friends. Their gigs would be at places such as Wrangler’s Campground in the Land Between the Lakes. Or at Hill’s Bar-B-Que near the Kevil Korner.

The eldest brother, Michael, received a master’s degree in music from the University of Notre Dame. He said he uses his ability as a classical pianist as part of a music ministry with local churches.

Chicken catcher

In Mayfield, you can also find a Pilgrim’s Pride office where Skinner reported to duty before being bused to local poultry farms to corral the animals by hand.

The national chicken company employed Skinner up until two years ago, according to Ray Adkinson, Pilgrim’s Pride spokesman.

He said the job is as Skinner told it on TV: groups of six men heading to farms, gathering up 60,000 in one night to prepare them for slaughter.

While “America’s Got Talent” celebrity judges had fun with Skinner’s job, it’s not an uncommon occupation in Kentucky. Ranked second among the state’s agricultural commodities, the state poultry industry employs 7,000 Kentuckians through 850 chicken farms in 42 counties, according to the Kentucky Poultry Federation.
