Valleyview Rodeo – Crocus Hill Stampede – Alberta

Valleyview Rodeo – Crocus Hill Stampede – Alberta

The Annual Valleyview Rodeo Fair organized by Valleyview & District Agricultural Society kicks off in the 2nd weekend of August. The event was a three-day event (Friday to Sunday) at Jack Williamson Ag Plex, Crocus Hill.

I served as a volunteer for this event in year 2007 (I moved to Valleyview on Jun 13, 2007). I was a gate attender, giving out wrist bands or arm bands to people entering the rodeo ground. My shift started from 10am to 2pm. If any of you entered the rodeo during that time, you probably saw me busy attaching the blue band to your wrist. The Chinese guy. Heheee… :D What on earth was this Asian guy doing here at the rodeo front entrance?!

I saw some familiar faces entering the rodeo. One kid came to me later when I took my break. I guess he couldn”t resist and asked me, “You look familiar. Did I see you somewhere?” “Of course, at the Jumpers on Canada Day,” I replied. I was a volunteer for kids activities on Canada Day and supervised one of the huge jumbo jumpers. Anyway, I guess my reply didn’t help. The kid still looked puzzled. :| After volunteering, I tried the doughboy. Some places called it “elephant ear”, “beaver tail”, or whatever. Then I went to see the Wildrose & Lakeland Rodeo Performance. I took the following pictures. Hope you like them. :)

It was a long day for me today. I left home at 9am and walked to Ag Plex. After volunteering, I watched the Wildrose & Lakeland rodeo performances in the afternoon. By the time I left Ag Plex, it was 7:30pm. Then I walked home. It was awesome. My first rodeo!!! :D I’ve never been to any rodeo!!! By the way, what’s the difference between stampede and rodeo???

Below were photos and event schedule for year 2007.
