   Open Wide - Is there any way that the people who do see hygiene but still need dental work can be seen by the dental students on the same day? Almost every person that I did scaling for also needed at least 2 fillings. Thanks

   Yea, it’s possible.

   For regular clinics (ie, not Open Wide event), dental students will do both hygiene and dental works if there is enough time. Sometimes dental students are fully booked with their schedules, so they may transfer patients to hygiene department for teeth cleaning.

   Sorry to hear you missed it. The event is held only once a year, at the end of March or beginning of April.

   Only basic dental procedures will be provided, though. That means exams and x-ray films, teeth cleaning, fillings (silver or white), and extractions. If tooth requires root canal treatment, patient will have to come back at the regular clinic. This year school offers 50% off the school fee if patients showed up on Open Wide Day and came back to school for root canal treatment. This is a really sweet deal. The school fee is usually 33%-50% off the regular fee charged in a private clinic. Then you add another 50% discount on top of that. That’s a very good deal.
