Fairmont Jasper open since 1922 is the largest hotel in Jasper National Park, located next to Jasper Townsite. The hotel offering rustic cabins/chalets all year round is itself a tourist attraction surrounded by scenic glacial lakes and majestic mountain peaks of Canadian Rockies. The resort has rental facilities for various summer activities such as mountain biking, horseback riding, and canoe/kayak/row baot on Lake Beauvert. It has an 18-hole golf course designed by Stanley Thompson. In winter, the lodge offers adventures such as cross country skiing, horse-drawn wagon rides, snowshoeing, and outdoor ice skating on Lake Mildred.
The resort is next to several glacial lakes: Lac Beauvert, Mildred Lake, Trefoil Lakes, Annette Lake, Edith Lake, and Ochre Lake. Lake Beauvert, Annette Lake and Edith Lake are great locations for canoe/kayak/row boat and picnicking. Numerous hiking trails are desgined around these lakes, offering opportunities for wildlife viewing (moose, cariboo, elk, mountain goat, sheep) and amazing scenery of mountain peaks (Pyramid Mountain, Whistlers Mountain, Mount Edith Cavell). For hiking enthusiasts, Old Fort Point about 1km south of the resort offers exceptional panoramic view of the entire Jasper town and Athabasca River on top of the hill. Numerous mountain goats and sheep usually gather on top of Old Fort Point.
Fairmont Jasper Resort is a great venue for wedding photography, ceremony and banquet, but it can be expensive. Throughout the year, the hotel offers discounted combo packages. Check its website for details.
