Year 2017 marks the 150th Anniversary of Confederation of Canada. To celebrate this milestone, pyromusical fireworks accompanied by music (tuned to the Q99 station) was organized the first time ever in Grande Prairie for an epic Canada Day fireworks display.

Well, coincidentally, year 2017 also marks the 50th Anniversary for Grande Prairie Regional College. Having fireworks above GPRC fits the context.
When and Where is Canada Day Fireworks?
In Grande Prairie, Alberta, the Canada Day Fireworks take place in Muskoseepi Park at 11:59pm, June 30!!! The fireworks event is not on July 1st evening; however, Canada Day Parade is on July 1st afternoon at 1pm along 100 Avenue through the downtown core.
The fireworks barge is located at the Bear Creek reservoir (read this article about the location of fireworks barge). So if you want to view the fireworks up close, you have to walk to the spillway of the reservoir. There are quite a few locations for fireworks photography. You can find it out on this site.
The fireworks event lasts about 15 to 20min.
