This year the super full moon takes place around summer solstice on June 22-23, 2013. Last year the supermoon was on May 5, 2012. Super Moon is 14% bigger and 30% brighter than other full moons. The scientific term for the Super Moon is Perigee Moon. Due to the elliptical orbit of the moon, Perigee Moon is 50,000km closer to the Earth than Apogee Moon.
