May 26, 2012: Milky Way over Maligne Lake in summer night
Jasper National Park is designated as the World’s Largest Dark Sky Preserve, which provides numerous perfect locations for Milky Way viewing that are easily accessible and away from light pollution. To celebrate this milestone, Jasper Dark Sky Festival kicked off its first annual festivity in year 2011.
