July 29, 2012: Margaret Falls
Review: Margaret Falls Hiking Trail
Margaret Falls is located in Herald Provincial Park on the north shore of the Salmon Arm of Shuswap Lake. Margaret Falls trail is fairly flat and takes less than 15min one way (0.5km distance) up Reinecker Creek to the falls. Beyond the falls, the trail is closed with a gate due to mud slide. Although there is a warning sign against it, numerous people swim in a small pool at the base of the falls and hike up the steep cliff to a cave directly hidden inside Margaret Falls.
The entire Margaret Falls Hiking Trail is very scenic: slanting tree trunks, moss-covered rocks, wild flowers, giant ferns, rustic log bridges, and small waterfalls along the way. This location can be a perfect venue for wedding, portrait, family photography. The hike is super short and easily accessible. Read below for map and driving direction.
