PINEROLO, Italy — Shannon Kleibrink’s team from Calgary won an Olympic bronze medal Thursday by defeating Norway 11-5 in women’s curling.
The Canadian women had lost in 7-5 in the semifinal to Switzerland a day earlier, but came out blazing for bronze. Kleibrink’s rink took four points in the first and fifth ends in a match that was never close. ”It’s still a medal - for us, it’s just like gold,” a teary-eyed Kleibrink told CBC. ”I’m so proud of my team.”
Kleibrink scored four in the first end, stole a point in the second and cracked another four in the fifth end for a 9-2 lead. The two countries traded scores of two over the next two ends. Nordby scored one in the eighth and elected to shake hands. Source: canada.com
