Holoprosencephaly: One Eyed Cyclops Kitten in Redmond Oregon USA

One-Eyed Cat in Photo Seen on Internet Had Medical Condition Called ‘Holoprosencephaly’
PORTLAND — A Redmond woman whose photo of a one-eyed kitten was posted on the Web says she is keeping the animal’s body in her freezer in case scientists would like it for research.
Doctors have a name for the bizarre condition. It’s called “holoprosencephaly” — a deformity that can result in a single eye located where the nose should be. The rare deformity typically results in death. But the little kitten that was born at the Redmond home of 35-year-old Traci Allen on December 28 stayed alive for a few hours after Allen fed it with liquid formula through a syringe.
She says she named the kitten “Cy,” or short for Cyclops, after it was born with the single eye and no nose. Allen says despite the media interest in the deformed kitten, she will not put the body on e-Bay. Source: KPTV.com - Fox 12 Oregon
A rare deformity; neverthelss, it’s not one of a kind. If I remember correctly, this also occurs in human species in the past as well, as illustrated in a medical human embryology textbook. When I saw the human case in the textbook, it gave me some goosebumps. Looks kinda scary to me. ![]()

That kitten didn’t deserve to live. He would’ve been a drain on society, just like inner-city blacks. Though if given the choice between obliterating one-eyed cats or urban punk-ass welare sucking crack babies, I think I’d have to go with the latter in this case.
