Oslo, NOT Tokyo, as World Most Expensive City - 2006 report
Oslo has overtaken Tokyo as the world’s most expensive city, according to a survey published Tuesday. Meanwhile, Canada’s three largest cities have grown to be more costly in terms of living.
Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver are now more expensive than all but the largest cities surveyed in the United States, according to the Economist Intelligence Unit’s worldwide cost of living survey.
Of 16 US cities featured in the survey only New York (27th), Chicago (35th), Los Angeles (35th) and San Francisco (40th) are pricier than Montreal and Vancouver (joint 43rd).
Toronto, Canada’s largest city, climbs to the No.47 spot from No.60.

Tokyo used to be the world costliest city to live in the past 14 years, but not any more. It’s Oslo, Norway, this year 2006. Toronto is the Canada’s largest city, but its living cost is not as high as Vancouver’s. *sigh*
I’m not even sure if I should go back to Vancouver to practice after graduation. Living expense is high, but the income is not proportionally better. ![]()
