Friday, Stuck in the Clinic and Snowing in Edmonton
Finally it’s Friday. Good to know and be away from clinic! This afternoon actually I had an Implant Clinic, but it was cancelled.
The instructor was away because she was organizing a Business Management in Dentistry Conference for my school. I thought I would had my Very First implant clinic today…oh well, I didn’t once again. I have missed two implant clinics already, because at both times the instructor invited some implant technology companies to give a talk to us 3rd and 4th year dental students. It looked like I’ve just missed my 3rd implant clinic opportunity. How coincident!!! Don’t know who else is in the same boat as me, missing 3 implant clinics. So I should have this afternoon off, right? Not So Fast!
I worked on my ortho assignment in the lab a bit, but then the 1st year students were having a tooth identification exam in the lab, althought I was there first.
So I moved out of the lab and worked on the radiology reports for my patients a bit. After that, my classmate asked me to assist him doing a composite restoration on tooth 17DL. Well, wasn’t I supposed to have this afternoon off??!! How come I ended up staying in the clinic???
By the time the operative clinic was done, it was almost 5pm. Guess what…I couldn’t go home!!!
Because one instructor came to ask me if I could help set up mannikins for the ortho course for dental assistant students for this Saturday. Am I allowed to say No? I guess I just had to stay.
You know what, maybe I’ll get paid for helping the set-up. You never know…life is full of surpises.

After that, I went to have a haircut and it was snowing outside. The first snowing day in Edmonton this year. Yep, it’s kind of late. Usually we have snow in mid-October and maybe one day or two near the end of September. Somehow, we didn’t have any snow in Sept and Oct this year. Either is good. ![]()

Later on, the school gave me an HBC gift certificate and a Christmas card for the help, although I don't think I did anything extraordinary. Thanks!
