World Biggest Star Planet - Order of Magnitude
Ok, so how big is our planet Earth? 
I mean, compare to other planets… In the following pictures, you’ll start to appreciate how small earth is!!!
In solar system, Earth > Venus > Mars > Mercury > Pluto
Note: On August 24, 2006, Pluto loses its status as a planet, declared by International Astronomical Union’s (IAU), after several years of debate since its discovery in 1930. What’s the definition of a planet? Read more here.
Jupiter > Saturn > Uranus â Neptune > Earth
So, earth is the 5th biggest planet in the solar system. 
The sun is way bigger than earth, yet it looks so small in the sky.
Ok, let’s get serious. There are stars bigger than Sun. 
For examples, Sirius, Pollux, Arcturus…etc. Jupiter is only 1 pixel in the picture and the Earth is invisible in this scale.
Ok, how about stars bigger than Arcturus? You bet! Antares > Betelgeuse > Aldebaran > Rigel > Arcturus. Our sun is only 1 pixel in this scale and Jupiter is invisible now!!! Holy cow, imagine that the Earth is sitting beside Antares. Earth will be totally torched and the water evaporates.
Hold on…there ARE stars even bigger than Antares. See this video.

In a universe so large let’s never think more of ourself than necessary, while also remembering that although we are very small in physical size compared to giants such as Antares, just as the moon reflects the light of the sun.. so to the stars reflect the light of love that comes from the human spirit.

Douglas Adams was an amazing vouyer with an articulate way of expressing himself (I wish he would have written more). I wonder what he would have done with String theory, todays prevailing Physics ‘theory of everything’ that says the entire universe is in fact composed of tiny strings [perhaps they total 42] the 11 dimentions (our 3 spacial dimentions plus time {or as Dr Sues would say “11 this is something new I wish I had 11 too}), “M” theory and the uncanny connection to what Jewish mysticism said about the universe’s makeup some 2000 years ago being made up of 10 spheres and strings of energy (+1 made up of time) 6 of which “fell” (or as todays scientests will tell you, shrunk) {Did I really call Douglas Adams A Vouyer?}

What about the Pistol Star which was discovered by Hubble in 1990. THis is the largest star found to date…it is much larger than Antares.

Wow, this just re-enforces my opinions that humans are not the only race in existance and that imagine how large we are as humans. Now thing of how small our SUN is compared to some of the others. Would this necesarrily mean that the planets rotating around those suns are even larger potentially and that those planets could hold larger beings than ourselves…Image just how large of a being could live on a planet that is the size of our sun seeing how small our sun is compared to Antares

Um, yup. just look at how big jupiter is compared to earth. think if they have inhabitants scaled as big as us and living in as many dimensions (to scale) as us, how insignificant we are to them as maybe cockroaches are to us. then to take into account those other systems of stars who knows (someone) how much bigger than our own, it becomes rediculous how we fight and lust over greedy things instead of trying to preserve our unique little area in this vast space known as space.

I think all of you have the wrong idea. Life on a planet the size of our sun would be smaller, not larger. Consider that whales, which are the largest animals on our planet, live in the ocean where their weight is supported by a dense fluid. A human would be crushed under his own weight on a planet the size of the sun.

Without reading the whole plot, isn’t there a desiginated realm of activity that is picturized. Or do you actually have to know a physical start and end of everything by saying this is that way, and this is the time of year. People say that Pluto isn’t a planet. Just a suggestion, but, can you compare the star called Antares with a tiny, winy, itsy, bitsy meteoride or an MOLUCULE!

OK so Antares is larger than betelgeuse? I dont think so. I got so many astronomy books and says that betelgeuse is far larger than antares. Also, there’s a new largest star discovered. The biggest star Hershels Barnard star was beaten up from the largest to the fourth. So now the new biggest star is VV Cephei.The red one has the biggest diameter ever measured at a star. If it would be at the place of the Sun, it would include the orbit of Saturn. Its capacity is nearly 20 billion times that of the Sun.

Actually, just recently discovered the star LBV 1806-20 could be the largest, and most luminous star ever discovered. Its mass is about 140 times that of the sun. It’s radius is 150 times that of the sun and it is 30 million times more luminous than the sun. This star is about 40,000 light years away from Earth. The other side of the galaxy.

There are stars however that are bigger than w cephie, there is LBV 1806-20, pistol star, Eta Carinae, P-cygni, S Doradus…Yer forot dem!!! LBV 1806-20 is the biggest star we know and it is HUGE
but like always there is another star called the blue minster for the reason of… yes it is HUGER and is probably the biggest in the big milky way which could be small to the even bigger galaxies of which could miniscule to the universe.

at this time there is no way to know the biggest star in the universe. light can only travel about 186000 miles per second (11,160,000mph) which is 97,761,600,000 miles a year
. the universe has been around for about 13.7 billion years, so 
… we can only see up to 1.3×10^21 miles 
. which means the milky way is about one millionth of the observable universe… ANYWAY, we cant see the whole universe, we can only see as far as light goes in 13.7 billion years.

everything that has mass has gravity. our sun have a lot of mass, so they have enough gravity to have planets. planets also have gravity to go against the sun’s gravitational pull. otherwise, the sun’s gravity would pull the planets into it. this is called inertia. both the planet and the suns gravity causes the planet to go around the sun, but the planets are veeeerry slowly falling into the sun. this is off the top of my head so if anything is wrong then, oh well…

Hey Chris, dont you think what a black hole is? There is a part in the exact center of the black hole with infinite density, thus having infinite gravity; thats how it even sucks in even light energy. It may be that the universe was made from one enormous black hole that became so big it bursted and shot matter every where. Now that is very debate-able because black holes don’t emit energy or matter because of its gravity. So maybe there is another type of space cataclyptic event that is related to black holes that hold matter and energy and shot it all in every direction, but that will take emense amounts of energy that doesn’t even exist. Further I just realized that black holes take matter and the matter can’t come back. If black holes have “white holes” pop up anywhere else in the universe than the object would just desintegrate for the opposite of infinite attraction is infinite push, thus the object would be one fast comet like an electron. If an exact opposite popped out of no where it would either be sucked in the black hole and if one was to pop out and escape it would cancel out the original thus shrinking its mass. This all is just to prove that some super natural occurence has occured and scientist haven’t realized it. They might find out at the end of time, maybe not; the world will end on June 6, 2012 at 6:06 Pm.

Um yeah, Antares isn’t the larges… The Cephei’s are larger. Go to youtube and look up “stars put to scale.”
