Chinese New Year (農曆新年) is coming. According to Chinese Lunar calendar, this coming new year falls on Sunday, February 18, 2007—The Year of The Boar / Pig. The above image depicts the famous Chinese folk tale “Journey to the West” [西遊記, 西游记] with four main characters:
- Táng-Sānzàng (Tang Dynasty Monk; 唐僧)
- Sūn Wùkōng (the Monkey King; 孫悟空)
- Zhū Bājiè (Monster Pig of the Eight Prohibitions; 豬八戒)
- Shā Wùjìng (Monster Sand Awakened to Purity; 沙悟淨)

Sam you know in Japan, it is not pig year. it is “wild boar year” –いのしし year. I thought boar and pig are the same. But, they said different.
