Halloween Teeth “Restored” by Dental Students
Halloween is tomorrow. How scary!!! 
On Friday my classmates, Herman Chow & Tyler Verhaeghe, and I decided to make some teeth from composite and/or temporary crown resin material in preparation to welcome our patients in the clinic on Monday (Oct 31). They both made vampire fangs. And me…heheee…what the heck…I made a pair of buckteeth.

Implants are expensive. We’re talking about $5000 per implant?!
Talk to your dentist and s/he might be able to build vampire teeth directly on your teeth using the white composite (the stuff dentists use to fill a cavity) and match the shade of your adjacent teeth. Plus, the composite teeth can be removed after Halloween without damaging your natural teeth. However, if you insist on having permanent ones, composite will do the trick too, but extra preparation on the teeth is required.

All services in any industry bear a cost. The cost for a 5-surface composite restoration (the maximum number of surfaces for a tooth is 5) is less than $300. Well, to be safe, let’s say less than $500, depending on when you get it (prices increase each year), where you live and which dentist you see.
I made a pair of removable vampire fangs for myself this year. I worn them when I went to halloween parties and removed them afterwards, and put them on again as needed.

I am Looking for the same thing. I want permenant fangs to be attached to my teeth that would look, feel and work like normal teeth.
Basically I dont want them to come off without having to revist the dentist.

Hey! I’m also interested in permanent fangs (non-removable). I’ve talked with a few cosmetic denists through email and such before and most are strongly against it and refuse to even go into detail like we’re all freaks or something…
The composites sound more reasonable so could you email me more details?

Yes, there are consequences with non-removable fangs. Make sure you discuss with your dentist before you proceed.
I would suggest removable fangs, in case you realize at a later time that you don’t really like vampire fangs any more.

To me, having Fang implants would be awesome. Anybody who has them is amazing. Espically guys, that is extreamly hot. I would like some information on getting Fang implants. Like how much they cost. Damn, I have always wanted to have fangs, but I don’t want them to be non-removable. But still I would “wear” them all day long and eat at the same time. But I always scare that they will drop if I chew chewing gum or even eat anything. Is there any way that I could get real looking removable fangs without paying like 500 euros of them. In (late) response to Jackie’s comment, it’s understandable that cosmetic dentists refuse to do fang implants — it’s like a brunette asking his/her hairdresser for a full bleach-job. They won’t do it - no matter how much you are willing to pay them. The last thing a hairdresser needs is a totally unsatisfied customer, or in the case of a cosmetic dentist, a sorely disappointed patient — even if they did do an excellent job, it’s still not worth the risk
I’ve been toying around with the idea of getting implants (when/if I ever had the money), but more likely than not, I’ll only get the next best (temporary) thing — for both financial and practical reasons. :S
There are people with naturally long, pointed canines, so I don’t really see the big problem with implants, but then again, who would want to pay THAT much for something s/he doesn’t really need? ;P

Me and my friend have talked about getting fangs for 6yrs and now were possitve we really want fang implants (permanent)….where can we get them? what state? what city? how much? When you guys are saying “implants” you are undoubtedly referring to crowns (”caps”) which cover the entire tooth and are cemented on, or veneers which cover only the front side of the teeth, and are bonded on. Either a crown or a veneer can be modified to an unusual shape while keeping the healthy tooth underneath. Crowns and veneers are the most permanent of dental prosthetics. If they fit correctly and are adjusted so they don’t interfere with biting and chewing, they won’t come off without a visit to the dentist.
Implants are put directly into a patient’s jaw where a tooth has been extracted. They require oral surgery to drill a hole in the jaw and tap the implant in. The patient has a metal hub which sticks up out of the gums into the mouth in place of the missing tooth, and the hub is restored with a crown. The surgery, waiting time to heal, and restoration can take up to 6 months. Implant surgery is expensive, as is the restoration process. The going rate is $2000+ per tooth.

I was wondering about the caps (not implants) appx how much this could cost. Would I be able to visit my regular dentist or would I need to see an oral cosmetic surgeon? How long do they last or will my regular check-ups be often enough to keep my fangs in proper condition? How long does this take?

what if they mold the shape of the canine to get an exact fit for a snap on vampire fang that would be cool for me. because don’t they do that for celebrities in t.v. and movies. Thats what I want.
