The followings were taken on Thursday, July 21, 2005. Not many pix taken because I didn’t have time that day. Just some pictures inside the Medical Sciences building at University of Western Ontario. Med Sci has a small entrance. I think it should be made bigger and more obvious. 
It looks like the entrance is hidden in a corner!!!

This is the second series of UWO campus pictures. These pix were taken on July 20, 2005 during lunch time. I went to Elgin Hall to get my laundry card, and on my way back to the lab I took these pictures. It was a sunny day as always in the summer; however, it’s sweaty and humid which I couldn’t tolerate much. You know, having living in Edmonton for 2 years, I love Alberta’s climiate way more. Lots of sunshine, and when it rains, it seldom rains in the day. Almost always it rains at night, so you can go out during the day. When it rains at night, you’re home and won’t get wet.
When I flew to London and got off the plane, my first impression (yes, I can still remember it) was “Geez, this is like Hawaii, hot and humid!!!” It can be hot in Alberta during the summer, but never humid. London is so hot and humid. It is the humid part that I don’t think I can tolerate for a long time. Good that I was there only for 6 weeks.

The following pictures were taken on Tuesday, July 19, 2005—my fourth day there at UWO. University of Western Ontario has many old style castles. Some of them were built way back in early 1900’s and late 1800’s. Some buildings, even though built more recently, are modeled against the old castles using old-style rock so that they blend together well.
College Hill is the UWO’s landmark. You can see that building almost from anywhere on the campus. It stands out in the centre of the campus. When I toured UWO campus, I thought the campus was pretty big, similar to University of Alberta. Now that I’ve toured UofA campus a few days ago, I find that UofA is still bigger and has more taller building.
The following picture album includes University Community Centre (UCC), Weldon Library, Social Science Centre, Medical Science building, Natural Science buildings (med sci, dent sci, health sci, natural sci, bio sci, geological sci, chem, physics, etc), Robarts Research Institute, Westminster College, Middlesex College (Math & Computer building), Physics & Astronomy building, Western Science Centre, Richard Ivey (School of Business), University College Hill, 3M Centre, Alulmni Hall, Cronyn Observatory, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Law, and Brescia University College (a college located beside UWO).

Below are the pictures I took during my flight from Edmonton via Winnipeg to London (Ontario). Edmonton International Airport was decorated for reception for the games participants. The pictures didn’t show very clearly. I didn’t take any pictures during my flight from Winnipeg to London, because someone occupied the window seat assigned to me and the other person occupied her seat. Because it was a hassle for them to change seats, I found an empty seat by the aisle. It was a boring trip afterward without being able to look out through the window.

I didn’t know Winnipeg International Airport has Wi-Fi installed, otherwise I would have turned on my laptop while waiting for my next flight.

This summer at UWO was one of the best research experience I have had so far. I mean my traveling and living expenses were 100% subsidized by NORTH (Network for Oral Research Training and Health)—a national research program for all dental students across Canada. I didn’t have to pay a single cent to get there. Wasn’t that nice?! Initially I wasn’t aware of that. I asked the NORTH program coordinator at UofA if I could get any funding for doing a NORTH project in a university other than my home university; ie, University of Alberta. He said there could be a max limit to what I could get. I thought…well at least I could get something. It was better than NOTHING!!! Hence, I submitted my application to NORTH anyway. It turned…
