Picture Lake at Heather Meadows, Mt Baker National Park, is a popular spot for photographers for any season. Pictures with spring morning fogs, summer flowers, autumn fallen leaves, and winter snow are all very photogenic. Another photogenic area nearby Picture Lake is Heather Meadows Waterfalls.
August 1, 2011: Sunset at Picture Lake of Mt Baker National Park with crystal clear reflection of Mt Shuksan. I met a photographer there that night, and he lent me his blue square filter with 3-stop for this photo. :D I don't know his name, but he was from Oregon and came to Picture Lake for sunrise and sunset photos every day during his visit to his wife's family in Maple Falls(?). His only complaint was lack of clouds. :-) He also talked about the amazing Ice & Fire photo of Picture Lake from another photographer, but the weather hadn't been cooperating during his visit to Washington because there weren't many clouds to produce that Ice&Fire effect. All we saw that night was a tiny faintly pink glow on Mount Shuksan. :( Then I left. I don't know how long he stayed there. Now when I think of it, I should have stayed there longer to capture milky way!!! Since there wasn't any cloud, it would be an ideal night for star gazing. Furthermore, it was around new moon that night. Oh well, I can try it next time.
