I went to Jasper National Park Maligne Canyon for ice walking. We saw some ice climbers along the hike. Believe it or not, ice walk tour was open on New Year’s Day. :D

In summer, you can follow the self-guided interpretative trail along the canyon with signs describing the geological history of the area. There are four bridges across the gorge, each with its own special view. A short hiking loop tours the upper reaches of the canyon, while a longer trail follows the gorge and exits at a fifth and sixth bridge lower down. In winter, once the river is frozen and thick enough, you can embark on activities such as ice walk!
