Trillium Lake is located 7.5 miles (12km) southwest of Mount Hood, Oregon. The lake can be accessed by car from Mt Hood Highway 26 and then either National Forest Road 2612 or National Forest Road 2656.
In summer Trillium Lake is popular for fishing, boating, swimming, camping and photography. On a calm, windless day the lake gives a very clear reflection of Mount Hood. The lake has a campground administered by the Zigzag Ranger District of the Mount Hood National Forest. There is a hiking trail around the lake; however, the view at the southwest end of the lake is particularly pleasing, and very often photographers gather here for amazing pictures. No hiking is necessary since visitors can drive all the way round the lake and park their cars at the southwest end of the lake directly. Another lake next to Trillium Lake is Mirror Lake, which also gives very nice reflection of Mount Hood. Nevertheless, hiking is required to get to Mirror Lake.
