UofA Dentistry Tour

The University of Alberta’s Dentistry/Pharmacy Centre began life in 1921 as the Medical Building thanks to a $500,000 grant from the U.S.-based Rockefeller Foundation. “Dent/Pharm,” as it is known today, was the teaching home for the Faculty of Medicine, but as the only building at that time with auditoriums, large courses from other faculties were taught here as well.

In the 1920s the building was the home of the health sciences, the Provincial Laboratory for Public health, chemistry, entomology, and U of A labs. Dent/Pharm is now home to the dentistry component of the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, the Surgical-Medical Research Institute, and the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. The building is one of the university’s truly iconic buildings with its distinctive architecture.

The following panoramic photos were taken in 2005 and 2006. :D The Dentistry Building is iconic to UofA.
