Review: War Falls Trail
War Falls in Carp Lake Provincial Park of Central Interior BC is a hidden jewel in Canadian Rockies. Located in remote wilderness unknown to many people, this romantic secluded getaway is accessible only through a gravel forest road Carp Lake Road about 32km from the nearby McLeod Lake community. Its unique charm along with unmatched diversity of outdoor activities (fishing, boating, canoeing, hiking, camping, wildlife watching, swimming) in nearby War Lake and on islands of Carp Lake offers the finest experience for nature enthusiasts.
The trailhead (parking lot) to this impressive waterfalls is located downstream the McLeod River, east of War Lake and Carp Lake. A mere 600m hiking trail leads to the river bank and the base of the falls. Often visitors take a rest or quick snack at the viewing platform by the falls. At low water season, it’s possible to walk up close to the waterfalls. As such, War Falls can be a great venue for excellent wedding / engagement photography, amazing portrait shots, and fun family group pictures.
The hiking trail is rated easy and suitable for the young and old. Great for family trips.
